National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed Japan continue supporting Vietnam’s industrialisation and modernisation efforts while meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru on December 5, within the framework of his official visit to Japan.

Affirming that Vietnam considers Japan one of its leading and long-standing partners, NA Chairman Man said the country always supports Japan in playing an active role and making significant contributions to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world as well.
Recalling his visit to Vietnam 35 years ago, Ishiba Shigeru expressed his confidence in Vietnam's further development and its potential to become a leading country in Asia.
Informing the host of Vietnam's legislative work, the top legislator said that at its recent 8th session, the 15th NA passed and gave comments on several important laws related to investment and business activities, with an aim to perfect the legal framework and improve the investment environment, thus helping foreign enterprises, including those from Japan, increase stable and long-term investment in the country.
Man suggested Japan promote and expand investment collaboration in infrastructure, clean energy, renewable energy, high-quality agriculture, green transition, digital transformation, data centres, and semiconductors which are Japan’s strengths, while supporting Vietnam in joining the global semiconductor supply chain.
He took this occasion to thank Japan for its ongoing official development assistance (ODA) and urged it to implement new-generation ODA projects in Vietnam.
At the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen human resources training by fostering labour cooperation, training high-quality personnel, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges. Vietnam will continue to send workers to Japan to support the country in addressing its aging population challenge.
They also vowed to continue facilitating the lives of Vietnamese citizens in Japan, so as to contribute to Japan’s development as well as a the two countries’ relationship.
