Ready for Tet
In the last days of the year, when the Tet atmosphere is exciting and bustling on the roads, it is also an opportunity for OCOP production facilities in the province to enter the stage of rushing to finish their goods to meet the needs of the market.
Coming to the pomelo production area in Chi Dam commune, Doan Hung district on the days before Tet, the atmosphere becomes bustling when customers from all over the country come to make orders. Doan Hung Suu pomelo is a famous product with a characteristic aroma, and is one of the fruits in the five-fruit tray, so it is especially favored by consumers. In recent years, the price of pomelo has been stable, ranging from VND 50 to 60 thousand per fruit for collecting at the garden, the revenue can reach VND 600 million per hectare. Thus, pomelo growers get stable and have favorable conditions for investment in intensive development of the products. The whole Chi village currently has over 20ha of pomelos being harvested, all of which are 10-20 year old pomelos with good fruit quality and high economic value.
Doan Hung pomelo “blooms” on the market from November to February (of the lunar calendar), in which the peak concentration is on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, accounting for about 50% of output. Pomelos consumed right on the occasion of Tet will be priced higher than at the beginning of the season, but are demanding in terms of design and quality. In 2022, Doan Hung Suu pomelo has been upgraded from a three-star to four-star OCOP product.
Along with fruits, during Tet, people"s demand for fast and safe processed foods will increase, so Truong Foods Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, Thanh Son town, Thanh Son district particularly focuses on the stages of meat selection, preliminary processing and processing of finished products. Up to now, the Company has six four-star OCOP-recognized products, including: traditional sour meat, sour meat in bamboo tubes, clean sour meat with garlic and chili flavor, salted meat, clean spring rolls and Truong Foods sour fish. To serve the people’s demand in the Tet holiday, starting from October of the calendar year, the Company has built a plan, connected with suppliers of input materials to ensure a large quantity, and at the same time get human resources ready to meet the number of orders for Tet.
Implementing the program “one commune one product”, the whole province currently has 139 products and product groups that have achieved OCOP standards at the provincial level including: 47 products with four-star OCOP standards and 92 products with three-star OCOP standards. The products have shown bold local characteristics of the Fatherland, ensuring the basic criteria of origin, labeling, food safety and hygiene, community involvement, stable consumption market and high potential for expansion...
At this time, the production and trading establishments of OCOP-standard products in the localities are “speeding up” to prepare the supplies of goods that ensure both “quality” and “quantity” to serve the needs of consumers. In addition to on-spot sales, many establishments have flexibly promoted their products on social networking sites and e-commerce platforms to spread out and promote product consumption. Along with that, competent departments have also strengthened inspection and reminded establishments to comply with the production process, food safety and hygiene, aiming for prestigious qualified OCOP products when the Lunar New Year is approaching.
