The program is jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, the Royal Thai Embassy in Viet Nam and the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee. It is expected to welcome approximately 400 delegates, including leaders of the Government, central ministries and agencies, local authorities from across the country, representatives of government agencies, business associations, Thai enterprises and investors, as well as numerous businesses from both within and outside the province.
According to Plan No. 188/KH-UBND dated May 25, 2026, issued by the Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee, the program will feature a series of key activities, including the Thai Connect 2026 in Phu Tho Conference, a Thailand - Viet Nam exhibition, business networking activities, investment and trade promotion events, site visits, the signing of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs). The program is expected to serve as an important bridge for promoting practical cooperation between Phu Tho province and Thai partners in the fields of economy, investment, trade, tourism and culture.
A highlight of the program will be the Thai Connect 2026 in Phu Tho Conference, featuring a thematic discussion session entitled “Connecting Thailand and Viet Nam: Smart cities as a driver of economic growth and sustainable development”.
The session is expected to bring together policymakers, economists, urban planning experts, corporations, enterprises and investors from both Viet Nam and Thailand. It will provide a substantive and multidimensional platform for exchanging experiences, exploring cooperation opportunities and proposing solutions to promote smart urban development, green growth and sustainable development in both countries.

Discussions will focus on a wide range of topics, including economic development trends in Viet Nam and Thailand, national priorities for smart city development and key requirements for building smart cities, such as digital infrastructure, transport infrastructure, smart energy systems, smart governance and sustainable urban development. At the same time, delegates will also exchange views on the Viet Nam - Thailand “Three Connects” Strategy, which encompasses supply chain connectivity, connectivity among economic sectors, localities and enterprises, as well as the alignment of green growth and sustainable development strategies. This framework is regarded as an important direction for strengthening economic linkages, promoting investment and expanding cooperation opportunities between localities and businesses of the two countries in the context of deepening international integration.
The thematic session will further address challenges facing the implementation of smart city models in both Viet Nam and Thailand. Participants will share practical experiences and discuss solutions related to policy frameworks, infrastructure development, human resources and digital transformation with a view to improving urban governance, enhancing quality of life and creating new momentum for sustainable socio-economic development.
This year’s Program is also closely linked with several major investment promotion activities. Notably, a groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held for the Doan Hung Industrial Park project developed by Thailand’s AMATA Group. In addition, memoranda of understanding on investment cooperation are expected to be signed with several leading Thai corporations and enterprises, including Central Retail, CP Group and other potential partners. These developments underscore the attractiveness of Phu Tho’s investment environment and reflect the growing depth of cooperation between the province and Thai partners.
Preparations for the program are currently being carried out in a coordinated, proactive and responsible manner by provincial departments, agencies and local authorities. The Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee has assigned specific responsibilities to each relevant agency to ensure the best possible conditions for the successful organization of the event.
As the standing agency of the Organizing Committee, the Phu Tho Department of Foreign Affairs is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Viet Nam and relevant partners to finalize the program agenda and oversee diplomatic protocol, logistics, delegate reception, communications, promotion and overall event coordination.
Meanwhile, provincial departments and agencies are focusing on key preparatory tasks, including venue arrangements, conference and exhibition facilities, exhibition booths showcasing the province’s strengths and potential, OCOP products, key industrial products and tourism offerings. Preparations are also underway for investment promotion materials, promotional videos, media content and visual communication activities across event venues.
Through the program, Phu Tho province aims to further promote the image of the ancestral land of Viet Nam, renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage, while introducing its development potential, competitive advantages, business environment and strategic development orientations to international partners. The event is also expected to strengthen people-to-people exchanges, expand cooperation networks and attract additional resources to support the province’s socio-economic development in the years ahead.
With thorough, responsible and well-coordinated preparations by provincial agencies and relevant units, Thai Connect 2026 in Phu Tho is expected to be a great success, leaving a positive impression on the friendly and cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Thailand in general, and between Phu Tho province and Thai partners in particular. More importantly, it is expected to open up new opportunities for cooperation and contribute to the province’s sustainable socio-economic development in the years to come.
