At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee , Mr. Bui Van Quang introduced to the mission the socio-economic development situation and some potentials and strengths of the province. In the agricultural sector, Phu Tho focuses on developing 3 main crops: tea, pomelo and large wooden tree. Currently, there are 4.9 thousand hectares of pomelo, with an output of about 39.2 thousand tons. The application of scientific and technological advances to the process of planting, tending and preserving has made the quality of pomelo constantly enhanced. Along with agricultural development, Phu Tho also has great potential for industrial production development. Currently, the province is focusing on completing infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters; promoting the improvement of business investment environment, attracting businesses to invest. Thanks to the attention and conditions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Phu Tho province, Mr. Bui Van Quang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, wishes that in the coming time, the two ministries will continue to pay attention and support the province to promote quickly processes to be able to export pomelo products to the Japanese market. At the same time, the province also wants the attention and conditions of the two ministries in enhancing product value, building brand Phu Tho tea; to step up trade promotion and investment attraction activities for Japanese enterprises.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh highly appreciated the potentials and strengths of Phu Tho province, especially in the agricultural sector. In recent years, the province has developed specific and practical solutions, orientations and plans, initially bringing into play those potentialities and strengths. In order to develop key agricultural products of the province, he suggested Phu Tho continue to stabilize the area of tea trees, but need to restructure varieties, research into deep processing, and increase product value; increasing the area of pomelos to about 7,000 ha, focusing on specialty pomelo varieties. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to direct the Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science Institute to closely coordinate with the province in controlling the quality of plant varieties; support the province in science and technology to improve the quality of agricultural products, towards export markets.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Vu Hong Nam also affirmed that in his position, he would maximum support to Phu Tho province in speeding up the process of connection, towards export pomelos of the province to the Japanese market. He wished that Phu Tho province would continue to research and have solutions to improve product quality and design, especially paying attention to post-harvest preservation to suit the Japanese consumer market; to attach importance to the linkage among production households to create a sustainable product area. More information about the Japanese market, he said that the current demand for wood chips for export is very large. Phu Tho province can research more about this product to promote the potentials of forest hills. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan promised to support Phu Tho in finding and connecting Japanese investors to explore investment opportunities, production and business in the province.
