According to the Resolution on approving the project to correct the general planning of Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province to 2040 approved at the 03rd meeting of the 19th Provincial People's Council, 2021 – 2026 term, the scope of planning is the entire administrative boundary of Viet Tri city with 22 administrative units, including 13 wards and 9 communes.
The issues focused on in the planning are the structural transformation from an industrial city (structure along a linear axis) to a Service - Tourism - Festival - Green - Modern - Liveable city. In relation to the development structure, the city space is oriented to develop according to the structural model “A corridor; a belt; a green space”. Taking the spatial axis of the Festival of being back to the original point of the Vietnamese nation from Hung Temple to Bach Hac junction as the official development corridor, surrounded by the Green Belt associated with two large rivers.
The entire city is a Green Space, harmoniously connecting rural and urban spaces and riverside spaces to become an impressive cultural - historical - ecological landscape which is the characteristic of the ancestral land. Develop the city into a tourist destination for National Cultural and Historical Festivals, which is peaceful and harmonic with the unique cultural landscape space of Vietnam.
Based on the landscape characteristics, functions and activities of each area, the spatial development orientation of the entire city is oriented into eight subdivisions with their own functions and orientations, including: Hung Temple special historical relic area ; Existing urban center – Administrative and Political Center; Urban - Trade - (Smart) Service complex in the Northern gateway; Tourism - Service urban area (green development) in the East; High-tech and smart urban complex; Urban area of industrial support service; The eco-village combines tourism - services and a strip of riverside space.
For the land use planning orientation, the natural area of Viet Tri city is about 11,149 hectares. By 2030, it is expected to add two urban wards - Trung Vuong and Phuong Lau.
For the orientation of the infrastructure system: The city will completely build centers of administration - education and training, healthcare, culture, physical education and sports... according to urban standards of class I as administrative - economic - cultural centers of Phu Tho province as well as the region. At the same time, complete the infrastructure of tourist areas, commercial and service centers to attract investment and development with the Hung Temple historical relic site as the focus. Stabilize existing industrial zones and clusters, transfer technology, move towards forming green and clean industries, and continue to relocate polluting industrial clusters out of the city center. Continue to exploit the strengths of clean agricultural products associated with experiential tourism to learn about traditional handicraft villages.
Comrade Nguyen Manh Son - Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, Secretary of the City’s Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Viet Tri City said: The general planning project of Viet Tri city was approved by the Prime Minister in 2005, with total correction in 2015. From 2015 until now, the basic implementation has been carried out in accordance with the approved general plan, attracting about 27,000 billion VND in investment for the city in the period of 2016 - 2020. The city has affirmed its role as the central urban area of the province and region.
