Deployment of the Project on Viet Tri wastewater collection and treatment system – Phu Tho province

The project aims at improving the sewage quality before discharging into Red river and Lo river as well as the environmental condition of urban area, local health and reservation of water quality of downstream basin of Red river and Lo river – where millions of people are using as the main domestic and commercial water resources.

For the past time, on the receipt of concerning and support from the Government; Ministries and Departments, in accordance with the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People Committee, with the effort of Phu Tho water supply joint stock company (Phu Tho WSC), the project of Viet Tri wastewater collection and treatment system, Phu Tho province – Stage I has been stepped into the construction phase.

Designed with a capacity of 15,000m3/day and the total investment of USD 32.906 million, the project is financed by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund – Korea (EDCF) under the Loan Agreement No.VNM - 17 between the Government of Vietnam and Export – Import Bank of Korea.

Phu Tho WSC  is Investor and Saman Corporation - Korea is Designer and Consultant (the leading enterprise specialized in construction consultancy) who ranked 1st grade  enterprise in 2011 on engineering and consultancy in Korea, currently the company carrying out many projects in Viet Nam and worldwide).

Categorized into three packages, the largest one is the open bidding package – Procurement and Construction valued the most investment contracted by Keangnam Enterprises Ltd. The Keangnam bidder is one of the international reputation construction enterprises, deploying a great deal of projects in various countries such as Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Cameroon, and South Africa, etc… In recent, the Company has completed the project – the 336 metre Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower which is known as the Vietnam’s tallest building and the world’s 17th tallest building.

Main items of the project consist of: Building the two wastewater treatment plants in Duu Lau ward and Minh Nong ward, a network of manholes, PVC – HDPE collection pipes, 17 relay pumping stations and a 141,783m- long system of sewage pipeline connection to the households. The duration of project implementation lasts 30 months since ground breaking.

Participants in the ground breaking ceremony are the leaders of Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People Committee; and the representatives of Korean Embassy in Vietnam; Project Steering Board; the Donor (Export-Import Bank of Korea), the Consultant and the Contractor as well as local authority.

Making a speech in the ground breaking ceremony, said Chairman of PPC – Mr Chu Ngoc Anh “ This is a large and significant project of Viet Tri City in particular and Phu Tho in general. It is the duty of the Project Steering Board and Phu Tho WSC – the Employer to keep close track and supervise the Contractor’s construction to ensure the required quality; besides, in cooperation with the City PC to fulfill the site clearance, making appropriate direction to complete items on the approval progress. On the side of the Contractor, his construction must be complied with the signed contract, raising the optimum mobilization of personnel, means for rapid and safe implementation without negative impact on local people. The close association in surveillance between the Project Steering Board and involved Departments is also necessary to give immediately solutions to difficulties and issues to complete the project on or even before the scheduled progress with the best result. Moreover, we deeply hope to receive the Korean side’s concerning to facilitate on finalization of the project - Stage I and continuously invest in the project – Stage II”.
